Be Remarkable!
If your child came home today talking about purple cows then I know they had a remarkable first day of gifted. This year our goal as students is just that...BE REMARKABLE! No more plain old(and boring) brown cows here, we are all extraordinary, unique and most of all REMARKABLE in our own way. We spent some of our day talking about how we are all remarkable and we made a "purple cow" to represent ourselves.
We even got to taste "purple" and "orange" cows :)
Another highlight of our remarkable day was our teambuilding "egg toss" activity. Five teams were given limited supplies and were instructed to build a protective device for an egg which was to be "tossed" down the hall. The team whose egg traveled the farthest and did not break would win. The teams worked very hard and were very thoughtful about building their protective devices. We had a lot of "cracks" in the end but all the teams could talk about was how they would do it better the next time and not have their egg crack. It was a great teambuilding lesson and a creative and critical thinking one as well.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait till next week!

Chets Creek Elementary Cultivating a Community of Excellence
Lao Tzu reminds us; “Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your dream.”
